A Day at The Park

So, today I spent a nice little while at the park. I should have been studying for exams, but eh, whatever. I just woke up and ate breakfast, but who cares about being prepared for school, right? In the end, it'll probably be for the best that I spent this day doing something rather than sitting in the house, pretending to study while I go off on a wild and magical journey on the Internet. Yeah, it's as productive as it sounds. So off I went, following my mom and her charge off to the park. Don't get me wrong, babysitting isn't horrible or anything, and when you've got a kid who's somewhat agreeable it's not the worst job in the world. Of course, it certainly isn't the easiest, but it all worked out. It served to be a more memorable experience than being cooped up inside, and that's all that really matters.

So there I found myself, playing mini golf. It was pretty fun to be honest, and I got better as I played. Just another case of practice making perfect, although in this case it was also due to the fact that mini golf is a lot easier when you aren't cursing over your close miss. While I was there however, I ran into two children, and they really surprised me. They were brothers, one about 8 and the other not much older than 13. They were pretty friendly, and it was nice talking to some other kids enthusiastic about having fun. They asked me a few questions, and we talked for quite a bit, mostly about the mini golf game. It was nice, and it served to remind me that even though I can see some pretty annoying kids (and even teenagers) that lack any sense of respect or kindness, there's still some out there who'll bother with talking to a stranger. It's actually pretty sad when I dwell on it, the lack of respect. Kids have always been screeching out the buss at passerby, but when did they start cursing? It's kind of sad, but meeting those two kids really brightened my day

After we finished the mini golf game (following many misses from both me and the child I was helping to babysit) we moved on, this time heading to the petting zoo. Of course it's closed on the day I go to the park, due to the threat of heatstroke on particularly hot days. Walking around seeing the animals, ranging from goats to sheep to peacocks and white chickens, was a nice experience. I have to say though, having a horse..take a dump, so to speak, right in front of you can be disconcerting, especially when you have to explain to a child what just happened. I guess I found it more funny than disturbing (it's a natural act, right?) but it was still an odd situation to be in, so I shepherded the kid into the barn so we could see some other animals. It was an alright experience, he didn't really see anything he liked, but I spotted a rabbit with red eyes, and I found it pretty interesting.

On we went then, to the botanical garden. They had some really nice plants there. Really, they were pretty... pretty. I wish I could've enjoyed them as much as I had wanted to, but of course my allergies show up at that very moment. I know carrying tissues in your pocket is kind of weird and such, but I sure wish I had them at that moment. Although the flowers were beautiful and all, I really wanted to get out of there. Once we did however, I spotted a nice centre-ish area, and to my fortune, some sprinklers. Let's just say I ran through those sprinklers like a kid in a candy store, except I was probably more happy.

So yeah, all in all, it turned out to be a good day, even though I never really got to study. Besides, who needs studying anyway?
