West Edmonton Mall, (Or, How I Learned to Stop Gaping and Close My Mouth)

Where do I begin? The West Edmonton Mall is a glorious testament to unbridled hedonism, and I love it. It's a ridiculous combination of just about every gathering place I've been too, sporting a large hotel, water park, theme park, movie theatre and some areas for animals. It was a great experience, and if I recall correctly, my mouth was agape for the duration of my trip there. My cousin took me throughout the mal on a little tour, and it was a blast. We got some tickets for the theme park, and went on a few rides. I've got o say, the roller coasters there are two brain cells short of insane, and it shows. The rattling of the rails is nothing compared to the sound in your ears, and it was a crazy experience.

Going through the mal got me a bit envious, wishing I had such an amazing mall located near my home. The one near my place is an unceremonial little centre, more of a place to spend boring weekends than to have fun-flled evenings, and it shows. Out off all the stores there, I think I've only ever really gone to the card shop, leaving the rest of the mal to my mallrat brethren. The movie theatre there blows the one next to my house out of the water as well, complete with decorative cieling figurines and such, blending classy and tacky at the same time. The part that really got to me was the arcade, a stalwart reminder that arades aren't wholly dead with this new age.

Although I didn't get quite a good look at the hotel or water par, I could see that they were loads of fun, and it really only took seeing the ie rink in the middle of the mal for me to realize that the place was just as crazy as it seemed. Hockey teams playing about five minutes away from people chilling on a pirate ship, the mall had the whole shebang. Although I can't say I'd want to spend every waking moment there, I'd be hard pressed to not spend the better part of a weekend lost between it's decorated hallways, searching fo the next great deal.
